When Allah Writes a Different Story
Finding Wisdom in Life's Unexpected TurnsDescription
Life is full of unexpected twists and turns.
Sometimes they come so suddenly that we are left struggling for control as we spiral. We search for the point of the pain we have to endure, yet with our limited knowledge, we only lose our grip all the more.
This is where sabr and tawakkul come in.
After every effort has been made, we are asked to turn to Allah (s.w.t.) and trust in what He has decreed. Whatever the outcome, we strive to believe that it is the best for us, even when it feels unpleasant on the surface.
After all, Allah’s (s.w.t.) knowledge is vast, while ours is limited.
He is also Ar-Ra’oof, The Most Kind. He manages the affairs of His creation with a care and tenderness beyond our comprehension.
“In the Name of Allah—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.” (Surah Al-Fatihah 1:1)
When we fall into the darkness of despair, it is Him who guides us back to the light. It has always been like this, may it be for our present livelihood or our prophets of the past, including Yusuf (a.s.) and Musa (a.s.).
Take a step back and reflect on the wisdom behind hardship with Mufti Menk this December in When Allah Writes a Different Story: Finding Wisdom in Life’s Unexpected Turns. Let’s appreciate the quiet guardianship that surrounds us, even when we cannot see it.
