A Sacred Ramadan
The Heartbeat of Masjid Al-AqsaDescription
Slow and steady will always win the race. The steady pulse beneath the surface, pushing for us to keep surviving.
Every single du’a whispered in the dark of night, every tarawih, every suhoor—aren’t they like heartbeats? Sustaining our souls for another year of spiritual strength and stamina.
Masjid Al-Aqsa shares the same sentiment. This place has been acting as a metaphorical heartbeat of the history within its walls. It has stood through the test of time and gruesome battles from the past until the present. There are echoes of the prophets’ prayers and the footsteps of believers.
For something to have a steady heartbeat, it meant that it was still among the living. Something that can grow and flourish.
Just like heartbeats, Ramadan finds its way to stabilise and rejuvenate our souls during a year of mayhem and havoc moments. Meanwhile Masjid Al-Aqsa anchors our faith. Both of them are reminders that faith is worth protecting.
“O believers! Fasting is prescribed for you—as it was for those before you—so perhaps you will become mindful ˹of Allah.” [Al-Baqarah 2:185]
No matter how busy we are, we should make time for Allah (s.w.t.) who exists beyond time with no beginning and end. After all, He is the Al-Awwal and Al-Akhir Lord.
Let us be compassionate with ourselves and focus on the finish line, rather than your finish time.
